Gary L. Hardcastle

Gary Hardcastle is an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Virginia Tech. Professor Hardcastle earned a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh. His M.A. and Ph.D. in Philosophy are from the University of California, San Diego.
Professor Hardcastle's areas of research include Epistemology, Philosophy of Science, History of Twentieth Century American Psychology, and Philosophical Issues Related to Communications Technologies. Recent publications include "Paradigm" in Reader's Guide to the History of Science (Fitzroy Dearborn Publishers, 1998) and "Accomplishing Translation: The Notion of Evidence in the Discipline of the History of Science," in Science and Hermeneutics (Boston Studies in the Philosophy of Science, 1997).
On Friday, April 3, Professor Hardcastle will conduct "a semi-silly, semi-serious illustration of various themes in analytic philosophy in the century (e.g. verificationism, semantic holism, the role of human reasoning) by way of skits presented by the British comedy troupe Monty Python." The presentation, which is punctuated by videoclips, is titled:
