Original Mission Statement - 1996
In 1996, a group of SUNY Oneonta students and faculty petitioned for a Womyn's Center. The students felt that the campus needed a space
where women could feel comfortable advocating for their needs as female students.
To create a more accessible and inclusive center, we have moved to the Hunt Union and changed
our name to "The Gender and Sexuality Resource Center.
Mission Statement - Admended 2003
The SUNY Oneonta Gender & Sexuality Resource Center (GS Center) is here for you. We are a group of
organizations that openly: explore, discuss, and promote Women's and Men's issues and equity rights in regards to gender and sexual
orientation and educate people about the "Myths" and "Facts" surrounding these issues.
