Balancing Justice in NYS - Study Circles Project

Students Inside Albany

Adopt-a-highway ~ We conduct litter pick-ups three times per year on the eastbound stretch of I-88 between exits 15 and 16.

Saturday’s Bread ~ League members have participated as a group at this community feeding program.

Global Democracy

Local league members have opportunities to interact with emerging women leaders from around the world through LWVUS international programs. LWV Oneonta has participated in two international exchanges. In 1993, two Polish women came to Oneonta. In October 1998, two Ugandan women spent two weeks in Oneonta. The following summer, two Oneonta League members spent two weeks in Uganda, where they helped to facilitate several civic education workshops. Both the Polish and Ugandan exchanges engaged Leaguers and members of the Oneonta community in rewarding dialogue. We all learned about each other and gained a greater appreciation for our potential to empower our fellow citizens through grassroots civic education.

Positive Campaigning/Fair Campaign Pledge

Promote fair, issue-oriented campaigning and encourage voters to take the initiative to influence the style and type of political campaigns.
