2005 Awards
Because excellence and achievement take many different forms, the Oneonta Undergraduate Philosophy Conference presents awards in the following categories.
President's Awards
President's Awards honor student presentations that most clearly exemplify the standards and ideals of the conference. For 2005, the awards were presented to (alpha order):
Ninash Foundation East-West Awards
- Zachary C. Callaghan (University of Hawaii)
- Marie Montesano (Hobart and William Smith Colleges )
- John Conrad Robinson (Centre College )
- Karl J. Southgate (St. Mary’s College of Maryland )
East-West Awards honor student presentations that exhibit special expertise and insight in Asian and Comparative Philosophy. For 2005, the awards were presented to (alpha order):
Spirit of Conference Awards
- Zachary C. Callaghan (University of Hawaii)
- Travis Wade Holloway (Belmont University )
- Antti Kasko (Loyola Marymount University )
Spirit of Conference Awards honor students who contribute to the conference in diverse, sometimes unexpected ways. Special consideration is given to contributions that enhance the academic, intellectual, and positive social atmosphere of the conference. For 2005, the awards were presented to (alpha order):
Matthew Grappone Prize in Philosophy of Science

Dominick Roda Awards
- Heather Mills (Wheaton College )
Dominick Roda Awards honor students who contribute a vital but often unheralded dimension to the conference by serving as discussants for presentations by other students. For 2005, the awards for excellence as a discussant were presented to (alpha order):

Kerri Lynn Nicholas Heart and Soul AwardsNamed in honor of an alumna who helped found the conference, Kerri Lynn Nicholas Heart and Soul Awards provide special recognition to those who have made truly exceptional, lasting contributions to the conference. At the 2005 conference, these prestigious awards were presented to:
Publication in the Conference Proceedings
