In the fall of 1999, the Physics Club started construction on a machine to launch a pumpkin into the air. We were planning on participating in the 1999 Dutchess Community College Punkin' Chunkin' Competition. We decided to build a slingshot for several reasons. One was the accuracy, and another was the ability to fit in Dr. French's garage. Here, Dan attaches rubber tubing to the wooden frame of the slingshot and the milk crate that serves as a basket to hold the pumpkin.
